I've been struggling to install Linux Mint on my HP Gaming Laptop from 2021. Although I used to game on it, I no longer do since I have a dedicated PC. I'm currently running Windows 11, but I love how Mint works on my Dell Laptop, which I installed successfully. I'm just not sure what's going wrong with the installation on my HP.
Here are the errors I keep encountering:
- Failed to open EFIBOOTmmx64.efi - Not Found
- Failed to load image EFIBOOTmmx64.efi: Not Found
- Failed to start MokManager: Not Found
- Something has gone seriously wrong: import_mok_state() failed
Sometimes I can get to the live boot, but it just takes me to a partition screen that shows nothing and then an error message pops up saying that there's something wrong.
I've tried various solutions – different mirrors, ISOs, flash drives, and tools like Etcher, Rufus, and Ventoy. Also, I've followed tips about copying and pasting the mmefi and replacing it with grubx64.efi. I've double-checked that secure boot and fast boot are disabled, but nothing seems to work.
I'm wondering if I should consider trying a different distro altogether. How can I avoid running into the same issues if I do?
I've even looked at the BIOS settings regarding Legacy or UEFI, but it makes no difference, as I still get the same errors.

It could be that the storage driver for your HP laptop isn't supported by Linux Mint. If you're having trouble seeing your storage drive during installation, that might be the issue. If that's the case, a different distro might handle that better. Also, Windows 11 could be causing some compatibility problems!
It's worth trying another distro! Sometimes they have different hardware support. Just make sure to check compatibility before you dive in.
First thing to check is that secure boot is disabled. Sometimes, even if it seems like it's off, it could still be causing issues. You might want to recheck that setting just to be sure!

Do you think switching to a different Linux distro will solve this, or should I just give up? I really want this to work!
