I'm getting an MSI B550M PRO-VDH motherboard to pair with a Ryzen 5 5600 CPU, and I know I'll need to update the BIOS for compatibility. I'm confused about how to go about it—should I update to the latest BIOS version right away, or do I need to follow a step-by-step process? Some people say I can jump to the latest version, while others suggest that might not work for me. If I encounter issues, should I first update to the version that enables support for the 5000 series CPUs and then go to the latest, or is it best to update incrementally?

Check the BIOS release notes from the motherboard manufacturer. They often specify whether you need to be on a previous version before upgrading. Also, is this board brand new or used?
If you're buying new, it's highly likely the motherboard will already have the latest BIOS installed. It would have to be really old stock to not support the Ryzen 5600.
Yeah, as far as I know, they are new. I'm just not sure if they've been sitting around since release.
It's usually fine to go straight to the latest stable version, just avoid any with a letter at the end, like F33. Those can be beta versions.
That's a solid tip! But just a heads up, from what I saw in the support section, all the stable versions have a letter, and the betas have numbers.
It's going to be brand new!
