I've been dealing with frustrating internet issues lately. Two months ago, I had a 6-hour outage, and when a tech came, he couldn't figure out the problem. Interestingly, the internet came back while he was troubleshooting. After a month of stability, I faced another outage, this time for about 12 hours. The cable provider sent someone out again, who found an issue with the line and replaced it. However, my internet didn't return. He assured me the connection was solid at the coax cable, and then suggested my modem was faulty. After bypassing my router and testing directly with my laptop, I suspected the modem was indeed the issue. I ordered a replacement, and although it worked for a while, it randomly disconnects for 15-30 seconds every 30-60 minutes. I returned that modem and got another one of the same model, which has the same issue. I've tried all the basic troubleshooting, replaced the coax and ethernet cables, but nothing seems to solve the problem. I'm using a Netgear CM2000 modem and I'm looking for advice on what to do next. Am I overlooking something simple?

It sounds like you've done a lot of troubleshooting already! It's frustrating when your ISP isn't helping effectively. If your neighbors have a reliable connection but you’re not, it might be a line issue that still needs fixing. Since you mentioned potential oversubscription, it might be worth consistently filing support requests until they take it seriously. Have you considered switching to another ISP, even if it's Century Link? Sometimes, a change can be worth it.
I faced a similar situation where my modem kept rebooting every few hours. After multiple visits, they replaced the line from the outside box to the pole, and it finally worked. It might be worth pushing for another tech visit to check all the lines leading to your house. Consistent connectivity is essential, and if they see it's not your modem, they should fix it. Don't hesitate to ask for a thorough investigation during the next call.
Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely bring that up when I call them.
You're right! It's a hassle, but if enough people complain, they might have to address the larger issue.
