Is a heatsink necessary for a Kingston NV3 SSD?

I recently built my own PC and I'm using a Kingston NV3 2TB SSD. The size of the SSD required me to move the standoff, making it tough to screw in the heatsink provided. I'm wondering if I really need the heatsink or if it's okay without it.

You can actually use the heatsink to secure the M.2 SSD in place if you're not able to screw both down.

I tried that, but it got loose pretty quickly.

You don't need a heatsink unless you want to ensure optimal cooling. If your SSD stays cool with decent case airflow, it should be fine without one.

The Kingston NV3 operates within a temperature range of 0-70°C. So, while you don't necessarily need a heatsink, it's a good idea if your case doesn't have great airflow.
