I have a 6TB WD Elements external hard drive that I'm trying to use with my Lenovo Legion Pro 5 laptop, but it's not being recognized when I plug it directly into the USB port. I don't see any pop-ups or find it in device manager, disk management, or file explorer. Interestingly, the drive works perfectly fine on other computers, and it also connects without issues when I use an external USB hub with my laptop. I've already reset the drivers, updated the system multiple times, and even reformatted the drive. I don't care about the data since it's just games, but I want to use the drive without needing to carry the USB hub around. Any suggestions?

I had a similar issue before, and it was a power-related problem as well. Make sure you try different USB ports on your laptop if you haven't already. If that doesn't solve it, a powered USB hub could definitely help. It’s odd that it works elsewhere but not directly on your laptop. Good luck!
It sounds like your laptop isn't providing enough power to the drive through its USB port. Have you tried connecting the drive to a different USB port on your laptop? Sometimes, certain ports can deliver less power. If that doesn't work, a powered USB hub might be a good solution. Even though the drive is marketed as "portable," it can still require a decent amount of power, especially at 6TB.
