I just got a new gaming laptop with an i9 14900HX CPU that's supposed to hit a max turbo frequency of 5.8GHz. However, I've run benchmark tests like Cinebench R23 and it never goes higher than 2.4GHz. Is this affecting my multicore and single-core scores? I'm only getting about half of what I expected.

It sounds like your laptop might be throttling due to heat. When you're running intensive tests like Cinebench, you're more likely to see lower speeds, especially if the CPU is trying to protect itself from overheating. Also, make sure you're on the ultimate performance power plan if you want max output during benchmarks!
Also, remember that the max turbo speeds are usually only achievable under very specific conditions, like light loads. In longer tests, it's common for the CPU to drop to its base frequencies. You might see the P cores hit around 2.2GHz and E cores about 1.6GHz during heavy usage.
Try adjusting your Windows power settings. Go to power options, set everything to performance, and make sure your minimum and maximum processor states are at 100%. Sometimes laptops throttle performance if these settings aren't ideal.
Definitely check your temperatures! Laptops often struggle with heat management, and if your CPU senses it's getting too hot, it'll intentionally lower its frequency. Also, make sure you’re plugged into a charger, as many laptops reduce performance on battery to save power.
