I was trying to adjust the field of view (FOV) in a game, but then the screen went black and wouldn't load. I had to force shut down my PC by holding the power button. Now, when I turn it back on, everything is lagging and really slow. I'm new to using PCs, and I'm not sure what steps I should take next. Can someone please help me troubleshoot this?

First off, check your display settings by right-clicking on the desktop. Make sure your monitor's resolution is set correctly and look at the refresh rate in the advanced settings. You might want to press Windows key + X to open the task manager and see if anything is using up too many resources. Also, just to note, restarting the PC is different from shutting it down completely—sometimes a restart can help resolve issues better.
I checked the display settings, but I can't change the refresh rate anymore, which seems strange. Also, my graphics card isn't showing up in the graphics settings, which is worrying.
