I recently got a Lenovo LOQ i5 with an HX processor and an RTX 4050, and I've noticed something strange. My laptop is only about a month old, and when I'm not putting any load on it, the fans don't spin continuously. Instead, the fan comes on for just a second and then stops, cycling like this repeatedly. It's not making any unusual noises and works great under load, keeping things nice and cool. However, in a quiet room, this 'breathing' sound from the fan cycling on and off can be pretty annoying. Is this a normal behavior, or should I be concerned about it?

It sounds like your laptop's fan is designed to manage temperatures efficiently. When there’s low workload, the fan doesn’t need to run continuously, so what you’re hearing might just be the fan doing brief checks to ensure everything's cool. It's common for newer laptops to have this cycling behavior to save power and reduce noise. As long as it spins up appropriately under load, you should be fine!
Totally get the annoying sound in a silent room, though! Maybe try adjusting your power settings if that helps!

Yeah, I’ve seen this with a lot of newer models. Sometimes it’s just how they've programmed the fan to behave for energy efficiency.
