Hey everyone, I'm new to Apple products and recently bought an iPhone 13 Pro Max on a six-month payment plan from a local store. The store owner set his Apple ID as the primary ID on the phone and locked it using Family Access, promising to unlock it after I finish my payments. While I understand the reasoning behind this to prevent non-paying customers from just running away with the phone, it's causing me a lot of hassle. I wanted to change the region of my Apple Store to download different apps and games, but since my Apple ID is set as secondary, I can't access it with the store owner's ID blocking everything. Every time I try to access anything related to my Apple ID, it doesn't show up. Is there any way I can access my Apple ID and change the region? I'm quite frustrated and would appreciate any advice!

That sounds pretty shady! I haven't come across that kind of practice before, and it feels really unethical. Once you've made your payments and get the phone unlocked, I'd recommend not going back to that store. If what he's doing is illegal where you are, you might consider reporting him. It's definitely not right to use this method to lock people's devices like that.

Yeah, it seems like a risky business model. You should definitely stand firm and demand the removal of his ID after you pay. That's breaking Apple’s guidelines, and Family Access is really meant for family members, not for locking in customers.
