I believe my WhatsApp account was compromised because I was unexpectedly logged out after a verification code was requested without my initiation. The code never showed up in my SMS inbox. After logging back in with a new code I received via an automated call, I activated two-factor authentication and added an email to my account. I checked and there are no linked devices showing. Am I now secure? Could someone have accessed my past messages? When I switched phones earlier, my messages didn't transfer over, so I feel somewhat safe on that front. However, I'm worried about how someone might have gotten the code and caused me to log out. Could this be related to an issue with my SIM card? I've got a lot on my plate right now.

First off, definitely reach out to Meta for support if you haven't already. It sounds like you’ve taken good steps to secure your account by enabling app-based two-factor authentication. That's the way to go! If you can, log out of all devices, which will ensure that the only device accessible is the one you're using right now. Also, avoid SMS or email-based authentication where possible since SIM jacking is a real concern. You seem to be on the right track though! Good luck!
Glad you regained access! Just remember, it’s crucial to have app-based two-factor authentication set up. That’s the best way to protect yourself against unauthorized access. Don't sweat the Small stuff about the rules; what's important is securing your account now.
