Can I keep my AppleCare on my iPhone after giving it to my kid?

I'm wondering if I can continue my monthly AppleCare subscription on my iPhone after transferring it to one of my children. In the past, Apple allowed this as long as I kept paying for the service. My youngest has an iPad with AppleCare through my account, but it's now under their account after I stopped using it and gave it to them. My wife just got a new iPhone 17 Pro and we're planning to give our oldest child her old 13 Pro to replace their failing 11 Pro, but we want to maintain the AppleCare coverage on it. Just a heads-up, the kids' accounts are part of family sharing. Thanks in advance for any insights!

Yes, you can keep the AppleCare on it. No problem at all!

The only AppleCare plan that ties the coverage to the Apple ID of the account holder is AppleCare One. If you have AppleCare+ linked to the iPhone's serial number, it won't matter what Apple ID is signed in on the phone.

I just tried to erase my iPhone and it mentioned that the AppleCare will be canceled. Guess I need to look into that more! Here’s a screenshot: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0a68P4ePVIWwSQLQaMYfoHXMw

Yeah, I get that; it's probably a good idea to double-check the coverage details before you make any changes.

You should be fine! I handle the AppleCare for my kids' devices too, even though they're signed into their own Apple accounts. The charges come to me, but the coverage stays active without any issues.
