Advice for Building My First PC with Old Components

I'm gearing up to build my first PC after getting an old one from a friend who just upgraded. The components are mostly from around 2015, but I'm looking to modernize it a bit. I already bought a Samsung 990 EVO 2TB M.2 SSD, which is the only new part so far. Luckily, the old PC also has 32GB of DDR4 Vengeance RAM, so I'm planning to go with a microATX build using DDR4 memory. I have a budget of around $1000 for everything besides the RAM and SSD. I'm a complete newbie to PC building and have been researching a lot over the past few weeks. Any tips or important things to consider for this new build? I would also appreciate any part recommendations! By the way, the other components from the old PC include an Intel i7 6700K processor, an EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card, and an EVGA Supernova 650W power supply.

First off, great choice on the SSD! As for the motherboard, make sure you get an ASUS Z170P, since that’s compatible with your Intel i7 6700K. You'll want to focus on a case that not only fits microATX boards but also has good airflow, especially since the GTX 1070 can get a bit hot. Also, consider a cooler for your CPU, especially if you plan to do any overclocking! Your power supply is solid at 650W, so you're good there. If you're looking for a GPU upgrade later, the 1070 is still decent but keep an eye out for options if budget allows in the future. Overall, just take your time putting it together and double-check all connections as you go!

Absolutely! And don’t forget to look up some online build guides or videos specific to your components. They can be super helpful for visualizing how everything fit together.
