I'm really struggling with Veritas NetBackup. It's been a challenge to figure out how to use it, and honestly, it feels like no one at my company knows what they're doing either. We have one guy who's been our go-to for this, but he's leaving soon, and I'm worried about how I'll manage without any solid training or knowledge. Can anyone point me towards training resources or tips for getting a grip on this backup solution?

Using Veritas isn't that bad once you get the hang of it. You just need to log into the admin console to check job reports and re-run any failed backups. But yeah, dealing with agent patch deployment and their hardware can be a pain. We switched to Veeam a couple of years ago, and it’s been a game changer for us!
I’d suggest reaching out to your Veritas account rep if you haven’t already. They might have training resources available or can guide you on getting the help you need.
I totally understand your frustrations. The user experience can be a nightmare! Honestly, I try to avoid using it whenever possible. It’s just not intuitive at all.
If your expert is leaving, maybe it's time to consider a new backup solution that the team can manage more easily. When we used Veritas, we had dedicated backup specialists, and it worked well, but it definitely requires a lot of maintenance.
Wow, Veritas brings back memories! I’ve been around long enough to remember when it was the go-to solution. Learning it can be tough at first, but once you get the skills down, it actually does a solid job protecting various platforms.
That’s good to hear! I hope I can get to that point soon.
