My 2010 MacBook Pro Won’t Turn On or Charge—Any Solutions?

I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro that I've taken good care of and used lightly over the years. I left it unused for a month or two, and now it won't turn on at all. I don't suspect any water damage. I've already tried the usual troubleshooting steps like holding down the power button for 10 seconds, resetting the SMC, and the battery reset, but nothing works. When I try to charge it, the battery indicator keeps flashing green rapidly and doesn't seem to gain any power. The charger's light turns green when plugged in, which makes me think the charger is fine, but I can't verify without another charger or battery. I am open to purchasing a new battery, but I want to diagnose the issue first and I've heard some replacement batteries can be hazardous. Any advice on how to fix this, test it, or find a reliable replacement battery would be greatly appreciated!

I went through those steps, but unfortunately, it still won’t turn on.

You might want to consider that the battery for that model costs around $79.99. However, before buying one, have you thought about extracting the storage and just getting a new laptop? Honestly, if you’re not using OpenCore Legacy Patcher, you might find it limited since macOS High Sierra was the last update back in 2018—just a thought!

Thanks for the suggestion! It was working perfectly for my needs. I primarily use a Windows PC I built, so I’d prefer to try and fix this MacBook to use occasionally rather than get a new system just yet.
