Help! My Windows 11 Won’t Boot After a Frozen Update

I ran into some serious trouble after starting a Windows update on my PC. It looked like it was progressing, but then the screen just stopped responding while the computer was still on. I waited around 30 minutes, hoping it would fix itself, but nothing changed. When I finally restarted it, Windows wouldn't boot—I just get stuck on the MSI BIOS loading screen in a boot loop.

I've been troubleshooting a lot. I booted from a USB that has Windows on it and when it prompts me, I've only pressed 'No' to avoid a clean installation. Instead, I've been trying to repair Windows through the troubleshooting options. Unfortunately, the startup repair didn't help, and the uninstall updates options were ineffective as well. System restore doesn't let me choose any restore points either. I even ran a command to check for corrupted files, which said it found and fixed some, but I still end up in the boot loop after rebooting with the USB removed and correct boot priority set.

What else can I do to fix my Windows without losing my files?

Sounds like a frustrating situation! You’ve already done some solid troubleshooting steps. Unfortunately, without a proper backup, data recovery might be tricky. You could try data recovery software like Recuva or EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, but results aren't guaranteed if Windows isn't booting up correctly. Just a heads up, there’s a possibility you could lose data if things don’t go smoothly, so be careful while trying these options.

I get your concern about data loss. If you can access your HDD from another computer, that’s your best bet for retrieving important files. Often, your documents and such should be safe if they’re on the HDD and not the SSD where Windows was installed. But using recovery software on your SSD could risk data being overwritten. Just tread carefully with each step.
