What Size SSD Do I Need for My OS Drive?

I built my PC a few years back and went with a 500GB SSD for the C: drive, which holds the operating system and main programs. All my games and extra storage are on separate SSDs. I've cleaned up quite a bit of bloatware, but I'm still running low on space! With Windows 11 and my essential programs, is 500GB still adequate, or should I consider upgrading to a 1TB SSD for the C: drive?

I used to have a 500GB for my C: and then set aside 100GB for D:. I also added a 2TB for extra storage. If you can, consider relocating some of your local files and the appdata folder to the second SSD, then reinstall Windows with just the essential stuff.

Honestly, there's really no need to have your OS on a separate SSD. You could just use one larger SSD for everything, which might streamline things for you.

Go for the biggest SSD you can afford! A 2TB option is still quite reasonable. I snagged a 4TB NVMe for under $200, and it's been fantastic. Just remember, Windows alone takes about 50-80GB with updates, and the rest of the space will be for your personal files.
