I recently received a Blu-ray player as a gift, and since I love vintage technology, I'm excited to use it! However, I'm a bit lost on how to set it up. I tried connecting it to my computer using a USB, but that didn't work. I also attempted to connect it to a speaker via USB without success. I found something in the manual about connecting it to Wi-Fi, so I tried using an Ethernet cable too, but I'm unsure how to get that going. I've been looking at the ports on the back, and it seems like I don't have the right audio connections. I want to use HDMI and USB if I can, but I'm not even sure if that's possible or what cables I might need to order. Can anyone help me figure this out? It's a Philips Blu-ray player, but I don't know much more than that since it was a gift.

It sounds like you're trying to connect your Blu-ray player to a computer, which isn't the typical setup. Usually, you'd connect it directly to a TV or receiver with HDMI. I suggest using the HDMI cable to connect it to an HDMI input on your television. That should do the trick!
Just a heads up, some monitors might not support the encryption standard that Blu-ray players use, which can lead to issues. Make sure you're connecting it to a compatible TV if possible!
I did try connecting it to my monitor with HDMI, but nothing showed up.
