I've been using my PC for gaming, but it hasn't been upgraded in about five years, and I'm starting to have issues running games smoothly while multitasking, like having YouTube or Netflix open. I want to start looking into potential upgrade or rebuild paths since I haven't followed any PC-related updates since I built this one. My goal is to play games like Valorant, Escape from Tarkov, Call of Duty, and Minecraft at around 144 fps while watching a video on my second monitor. Here are my current specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core Processor 3.60 GHz
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600 (8 GB)
- RAM: 2x8 GB sticks of CORSAIR VENGEANCE 3600MHz
- PSU: 600W EVGA 80 Plus
- Motherboard: B450 (although one of the M.2 slots is not functional, and two front ports on my case are broken).
Given these issues, do you think I should build a whole new setup, or are there parts worth upgrading? I appreciate any advice!

With the motherboard issues you're experiencing, and the overall performance boosts from a new CPU and GPU, I recommend going with an AM5 setup. Check out combo deals at places like Newegg or Microcenter—they often have great packages.
Also, here are some video links that might give you a clearer picture of your options:

Hope you enjoy your new PC upgrade, whether you go AM5 or AM4. Happy building!
Considering the current market for upgrades, I'd suggest sticking with an AM4 motherboard to stay cost-effective. You might be running into limitations with your 16GB of RAM, so looking for a good pair of 32GB DDR4 sticks could help. If you're aiming to boost your CPU and GPU, consider getting a Ryzen 7 5800X and either a used 7800XT or a new 7900 XT for a solid performance increase.
What do you think about upgrading the CPU and motherboard and adding two more sticks of the same RAM I currently have, then waiting to get a new GPU later? Would that still enhance performance significantly?

What do you think about upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5800X with an MSI B550M PRO-VDH motherboard, along with two more sticks of my existing RAM? Should I wait to upgrade the GPU until I have more funds?
