What Are Normal CPU Temperatures for Gaming Laptops?

I'm using a Lenovo LOQ with an RTX 5070 and an i7-13650HX. While gaming in both balance and performance modes, my CPU temperatures hover around 85-87 degrees Celsius, occasionally jumping into the 90s. I'm concerned that this might damage my components. I've noticed the fans only run dynamically and never hit max speed, and when I try to adjust the settings, it warns that any damage from changes wouldn't be covered by the factory warranty. Is my CPU temperature within an acceptable range?

Intel CPUs generally run hot, especially in laptops where space is limited. Hitting around 90°C is considered just a bit toasty but not a deal-breaker. Thermal throttling kicks in at 100°C, so as long as your laptop hasn’t shut itself down, you're likely in good shape.

My Asus ROG runs at 95°C with a 4080 and the same CPU, and it throttles a lot. Just remember, laptops are inherently less capable of cooling compared to desktops, so they’re going to run hotter. But your GPU will throttle when it gets too hot to prevent damage.

Those temperatures you're seeing are actually acceptable for a gaming laptop. If things were overheating, your laptop would shut off automatically to protect itself. The warning about messing with fan settings is just to keep you from reducing cooling too much. Turning fans up for better cooling is perfectly fine, but it can get a bit noisy.
