I've been looking into building a new PC, but I'm shocked by the price of DDR5 RAM! Two 16 GB sticks that used to be around €80 are now priced at €400. I'm really torn on what to do next. Should I just go for DDR4 RAM instead or hold out and hope prices come down?

Yeah, it’s a tough choice. Even DDR4 prices are skyrocketing; I paid about £160 for a RAM kit last year and now it’s over £250! It’s frustrating.
If you’re set on building, think about the total cost of everything, not just the RAM. Even if RAM is current high, your overall cost might only be a little more than it used to be.
Consider browsing the used market. You can sometimes find good deals on older systems that people are selling. Overall, just keep an eye out for bundles or combo deals to save some money!
If you can find a prebuilt PC, that might be a good call. Prebuilts can be priced okay right now. Just keep in mind that going for DDR4 means sticking with older tech like AM4, which might limit your upgrade options.
Honestly, I don’t think prices are dropping anytime soon. You might want to save up a bit more, but if that’s not an option, maybe check out some budget DDR4 machines instead.
