Can I Install KDE Plasma on Ubuntu Without Issues?

I'm looking for a solid window manager but I want to stick with Ubuntu instead of switching to Kubuntu, which I know is the go-to for KDE. If I run the command `sudo apt install kde-plasma-desktop`, will I end up with a lot of duplicate files or is it a minor package?

You might want to check out some guides online. I found a neat one on installing KDE on Ubuntu, gives pretty clear instructions. Just search for it, it could help you with your decision!

Thanks for the tip! I’ve seen that but I now realize I’m after a window manager specifically, not the whole DE.

I just tried installing KDE on my Ubuntu setup. Just a heads up—some things might mix up like browsers changing the file picker to KDE instead of GNOME. If you're okay with that, it might work for you!

If you’re aiming for KDE, Kubuntu is definitely the best choice! But there's no need to switch distros just for that—Ubuntu can handle it too! Just keep in mind that installing KDE Plasma will bring in a lot of packages. It's not just a tiny addition.

Exactly! You can use what you have without tearing everything down.

For window managers, you're talking about something like i3 or Hyprland, not KDE. Just a heads up to clarify things!

Right? People often mix them up!

Remember, KDE Plasma is a desktop environment, not just a window manager. It's pretty robust and no small setup! So yes, you might be looking at quite a bit of space being used.

Yep, installing it will be around a gigabyte, just a heads-up!
