I've been having some major issues with my laptop's touchpad. After cleaning out the cooling fans, the cursor has been acting really weird—lagging even though it's set to max speed, moving erratically, clicking things on its own, and sometimes it even disappears! Restarting the laptop usually fixes the problem temporarily, but it keeps happening. I've tried unplugging and replugging the battery, adjusting the touchpad settings, and even giving the touchpad a light tap to see if it would help. Today was especially frustrating because the cursor was missing for hours until I restarted. Any ideas on what might be going wrong?

It sounds like you might have accidentally loosened the touchpad connector or gotten some dust in it when you were cleaning. I'd recommend opening up your laptop and checking the connection between the touchpad and motherboard. It's not too complicated, just make sure you're careful!

I haven't tried that yet, but now I think that might be the problem! What exactly should I look for when I open it up?
