How can I reduce memory usage by Search (7) on my laptop?

I've been trying to improve the performance of my older laptop, which came with Windows 11 and a lot of unnecessary bloatware. I've noticed that "Search (7)" is constantly using around 200MB of memory, usually due to Microsoft Edge WebView2. I can't delete it, and when I followed some online guides, I ran into issues like "Indexing is not Running" and greyed out options. I don't want to remove Edge entirely since I'm worried about losing updates. Additionally, I need help stopping the Malwarebytes Service from launching at startup, as it also hogs a significant amount of memory. My laptop gets really hot during basic tasks like playing Minecraft, and I'm expecting a cooling pad soon. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Windows 11 can be pretty resource-heavy, especially on laptops. What's your total RAM? Gaming laptops tend to run hot, so it's not unusual. I recommend avoiding using your laptop on your lap and instead keeping it on a flat surface. Propping it up can help with airflow; I did that with mine and it made a difference. Plus, investing in a cooling pad is a smart move!

Just a heads up, making changes to BIOS or disk settings can risk data loss. Always back up your important files before tinkering with your system! If you're looking for more detailed help, I recommend checking out a reliable FAQ on Windows 11.

You might want to know that disabling Search and WebView2 could break some functionalities on your laptop. The amount of memory they're using is fairly standard, and killing those processes would just lead Windows to use that memory for caching, keeping around 50% usage, which is normal. Honestly, if you're aiming to speed things up, a clean install of Windows might do wonders. Just remember to back up your files first! I'm not suggesting a factory reset, but rather a complete wipe of partitions and a fresh start.
