I've got a pretty powerful setup: an RTX 4060 with 8 GB of VRAM, an AMD Ryzen 9 5900x with 12 cores, 32 GB of RAM, and a B550M AORUS ELITE motherboard. All my games are installed on a healthy SSD, but since mid-November, my gaming experience has taken a turn for the worse. Despite my PC reliably pumping out around 140 FPS, the actual gameplay feels choppy, with my screen showing close to 50 unstable FPS, high input delay, and a blurry display. It all changed overnight, and it's still an ongoing problem.
I've gone through some major troubleshooting steps: I've reinstalled Windows, tested different drivers, formatted my PC, reinstalled the games, replaced the PSU and motherboard, overclocked and underclocked my components, and even messed with RAM settings at 2666 and 3200 MHz. I've tried various in-game settings, but nothing seems to help. Oddly enough, even watching YouTube videos lags. I'm stumped and can't tell if it's a software issue or something hardware-related.

If you're playing with an Xbox controller, be aware there’s a known issue with Microsoft Game Input that can cause input lag and stuttering. Some users reported that uninstalling it fixed their problems. Just a heads up!
Check this optimization guide. If you’re not using a controller, try the steps listed (1-7, 9 for Nvidia, and 10-12). Pay special attention to step 5, it could be the key. If the problem persists, make sure your components aren’t overheating, as that can cause performance drops.
Thanks! I’ll work through those steps and update you if there's any improvement.
Glad to hear it's smoother! Just keep an eye out for any lag spikes during gameplay. It sounds like a full-screen mode issue if that's when it freezes.
Have you tried rolling back to an older driver from before November? Sometimes the latest updates can cause these kinds of issues. Just a thought!
I'll give that a shot, thanks!

I don’t use a controller, so I think I’m in the clear there.
