I've noticed that my CPU temperatures are getting pretty high while gaming, often reaching the mid-80s or even higher depending on the game. I've recently replaced the thermal paste and cleaned out my case, but it still seems to heat up regardless of the settings I use. I typically play on 2K at mid to low settings or at FHD on high graphics. I've been trying out Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and it's causing the temps to spike even though it's an older game. I want to play newer titles without worrying about damaging my CPU, which is an AM4 Ryzen 7 3800X that I have overclocked to about 4.38 GHz with the stock Wraith Prism cooler. I've got 32GB of RAM, an RTX 3060, a 500GB SSD for Windows and some games, and a 2TB HDD for additional storage. Should I consider upgrading my cooler, or is this just typical for my setup? Thanks!

Just a heads up, lowering graphics settings can actually increase CPU load, which might be part of the problem. You're better off finding a balance that keeps your CPU cooler.
One option is to check if your Wraith Prism cooler is set to high speed. It has a switch labeled "H/L" for high and low settings; make sure it’s on high. While CPUs can handle temps up to about 90°C, consistently hitting those numbers isn’t great. If you’re regularly getting close to that, an upgrade to a better cooler is a smart move!
Yeah, you really should change that cooler soon. The Ryzen 7 can be cooled effectively and won't cost you much. Brands like Scythe offer some really good budget options. Go for it!
It sounds like the stock cooler is the main issue, especially since you've overclocked your CPU. Upgrading to a better cooler, like a 120mm model, could make a big difference in your temperatures. It's a pretty easy fix and should help keep those temps down while gaming!

I had a similar issue with stock coolers. Definitely worth the upgrade! I went with a more powerful cooler and noticed a significant drop in temps.
