Do I Need a New Power Supply for Upgrading My GPU?

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU to either a 5060 Ti or a 5070, but I'm uncertain if I need to upgrade my power supply unit (PSU). Here are my current specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X, GPU: RTX 3050 8GB, RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, and I'm using a Corsair 650W PSU. Would this be sufficient, or should I consider getting a higher wattage PSU?

To get a better idea, check the power draw for your desired GPU on techpowerup. For example, a 3080 Ti runs around 350W. Add in the Ryzen's TDP of about 65-88W, and you'll see that the total draw might be around 438W under load. This means your 650W PSU should still be okay, as long as you keep in mind that leaving some headroom is essential. Aim for about 10-20% less than your max capacity, so targeting around 520-585W for your setup would be ideal.

Just keep in mind upgrading your PSU not only helps with the GPU but also ensures better performance and longevity for your system overall. If you do decide on getting a new PSU, make sure it's from a reputable brand and has good reviews.

It really depends on which GPU you decide to go with. Generally, a 650W PSU should be fine for the 5060 Ti, and it theoretically works for the 5070 as well. If you're planning for a little extra safety margin, though, going for a 750W or 850W might be a better choice.

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll lean towards the 5060 Ti since I don't want to spend too much.
