Choosing Between 9070 XT, 5080, and 7800 XT for 4K Gaming

I'm about to set up my new 4K monitor and I'm currently using a 9800X3D with 32GB of RAM and a 7800 XT. I'm trying to decide whether to buy a 9070 XT for $500, a 5080 for $1000, or stick with my current GPU. I'm leaning towards the 9070 XT since I've heard the 7800 XT struggles at 4K, but I'm hesitant due to the resale value of my current card. Is the $500 difference for the 5080 justified? Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Honestly, I wouldn't spend an extra $500 on the 5080 when the 9070 XT is such a solid option. I've had mine and I think it performs great for the price. Plus, you'll likely recoup some cash by selling your 7800 XT. It's a win-win!

That's true, but isn't the 5070 Ti around $750? Seems a bit too close in performance to the 9070 XT. I'd just stick with the 9070 and save some cash.

Also, you can always upgrade down the line if needed. Better to save now!

Honestly, 4K gaming can be a mixed bag. If you're set on high framerates, the 5080 is your best bet, but don't overlook what the 9070 XT can do at a better price point. Adjusting your settings goes a long way!

Totally, I think it's about finding that balance between performance and price with your specific gaming needs.

How long are you looking to keep this GPU? If it's 5 years or more, then maybe go for the 5080. The longer you plan to use it, the more you'll appreciate the extra power, especially for 4K.

I'm thinking around 3-5 years too, so maybe the 5080 will be worth it.

If money isn't an issue for you, I'd definitely recommend the 5080. I recently switched from a 9070 XT and the performance boost is noticeable, especially in demanding games. That extra investment pays off in the long run with better features and support.

That’s helpful to know! I'm just not sure if I can justify that cost right now.

If you're on a budget, just go with the 9070 XT. It’s great for 2K and can handle 4K with some tweaks. The performance jump from the 7800 XT to the 5080 isn’t as significant as some say, especially for the price.

Exactly! Just make sure to adjust your settings for those higher demands and you'll be good to go.
