Why is my GPU overheating, and how can I fix it?

I've noticed that my graphics card, specifically the GTX 1080 Ti, is running way too hot lately. It's not just when I'm gaming; even when I'm just idling on my desktop, the temperatures are uncomfortably high. During a recent gaming session in Where Winds Meet, it hit over 120°C, so I decided to shut down the game. I had been overclocking it for a while but stopped recently, hoping to avoid damaging my PC. Is there any way to lower the temperatures, or do I need to consider replacing the card?

One quick fix might be to reapply the thermal paste. It's usually pretty simple and plenty of tutorials are out there to guide you.

Definitely consider reapplying thermal paste and possibly replacing the thermal pads too. The right thickness of the pads is crucial, so make sure to check that. If you're opening it up, doing both would be ideal!
