Looking for Affordable GPUs for an Older PC

I'm trying to replace my EVGA 2 GB 660 TI GPU, which is finally giving out after several years. My PC is from 2016 and I really don't want to spend a lot on a new graphics card since the rest of my setup might bottleneck the performance anyway. I used to find older graphics cards available new at low prices, but now it's tough to search for them. Google keeps showing me the latest models, and the prices are often crazy—like a 1080 TI still going for around $500! My budget is under $100, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of any durable, reputable GPUs that I can get for cheap. What older models are still performing well in the gaming scene?

Honestly, if you can expand your search to lightly used GPUs, you can get great deals. I snagged a GTX 970 for $50, and it performs really well even for older games. The GTX 1660 is also a solid under $100 option. Just make sure to look at places like local marketplaces to find the best deals; there's a good chance you'll find something worthwhile!

That's a great idea! I tend not to trust used gear though; any tips on what to check when buying a used GPU?

If you're sticking to older models, the GTX 1070 or 1080 would offer significant gains without breaking the bank. Those were really reliable back in their day and can still hold up well. You should be able to get them for under $100 if you're lucky in your search. Just remember, new stock of older cards is mostly marked up for collectors, so focus on used options for the best price.

Great point! I've seen mentions of 900 series cards going for $75–125—those might be my best bet!

You might want to check out the GTX 1060 6GB; it's a solid choice. However, finding new GPUs under $100 is a challenge—most of those are basic video cards. For used options, I'd recommend looking at the GTX 1080; it offers great value. You can probably find GTX 1660 models under $100, but they have limited VRAM. Just keep in mind that the 660 TI you're considering is a bit outdated and probably not worth the $45 they're asking.

Even the basic cards seem like they'd be an upgrade for me. But if the older cards are still performing well in current games, I'd be okay with them—just want to avoid a total downgrade!
