I'm thinking about switching to Linux but I'm hesitant because I rely on Microsoft Teams for my high school classes. My current laptop is really slow with just 4GB of RAM, and Windows is hardly bearable. Should I wait until college to make the switch, or are there any Linux distributions or methods to get Teams running smoothly?

Definitely try the browser version to see if it meets your needs. It should give you access to most of the features you use.
If you're subscribed to Teams with the owl, I heard that the version integrated into Thunderbird works pretty well too.
The PC desktop app is basically just a wrapper for the web version, so you can access everything you need through a browser on Linux. Just keep in mind that certain features like give/take control might not work as they do on Windows.
Honestly, I just stick to the web version. I have no desire to install any apps from Microsoft, I'm not a fan of that at all. The web interface suffices for me!
You'll be happy to know that the web version of Teams works just fine on browsers like Firefox, Chrome, and Edge. I've tried the desktop version on Linux before, but it can be a bit of a hassle. If you really need a desktop app, you might want to look into running the Android version using Waydroid.
