I was up late reinstalling my components into a new case and accidentally plugged the wrong end of my CPU cable into the motherboard. I was using a Corsair RM850x power supply, and when I noticed my mistake while trying to connect the CPU end, it was clear that the clips didn't fit. I corrected the connection right away, and the computer seems to be working fine now. I'm just worried if I might have damaged anything when I did that, even though I didn't use much force.

As long as your power supply was off when you made that mistake and you didn't force the connector into place, you should be good! There's usually no hidden damage from just plugging it incorrectly. Just keep an eye on your system and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Yeah, I was in a similar situation once and worried I did damage, but everything worked out fine. Just double-check your connections now to be safe!
