I went ahead and picked out some parts on PCPicker, and the total came to around $1,650, which feels a bit steep since my budget was $1,000. However, I'm open to spending a little extra for something that'll last.
I'm not a heavy gamer; I mainly want this PC for schoolwork and some light gaming. I also do sports betting, so I need something that's quick and efficient. I'd really like to have 32 GB of RAM (hopefully DDR5) and around 2TB of storage if it doesn't blow my budget.
If you think I've picked too high-end components, could you suggest some cheaper alternatives? Thanks a lot for your help!

If you're keeping it low-key with gaming and general tasks, you might want to stick with an AM4 setup instead of going for the more expensive AM5. It's a better deal for the performance you need, and will still last for a good 4-5 years. But if you're set on AM5, make sure to grab that RAM quickly because prices are rising!
Check out the Ryzen 7000 series for solid performance! If you're gaming at 1080p, an 8GB graphics card, like the 5060, should suffice. Also, for your RAM, think about going with 16GB. DDR5 is great, but it can be quite pricey right now.
