I'm considering whether 16GB of DDR4 RAM would be sufficient for running Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on my setup, which includes a 3060 12GB graphics card and an Intel i5 processor that's a couple of generations old. I'm trying to avoid spending too much on upgrading to DDR5 right now. Will DDR4 handle this well?

While I can't provide specifics about your CPU generation, in general, 16GB of DDR4 should handle MSFS 2024, but you might want to consider lowering the settings since the game has been known for its demanding performance. Don't expect top-notch FPS on everything maxed out, but it might work decently!
You should definitely check benchmarks for MSFS 2024. It had a pretty rough launch, with reports of poor optimization; even high-end setups struggled with low FPS. So even with a decent system like yours, it might not run smoothly right out of the gate. It's worth checking if there's any improvement after the initial release, though!
Yeah, I've heard similar things. I'm also interested to know if your spec improves performance at all based on those tests.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking, just need to manage expectations.
