I'm currently running a Ryzen 3300X with an RX6800 GPU, 16GB of RAM, and an 800W PSU. My motherboard is the Asus B350M-A. I can't find the 5700X3D anywhere, but I'm curious about upgrading to the 5500X3D. The problem is, my motherboard doesn't officially list the 5500X3D as a supported CPU, even though it does support the 5700X3D and 5800X3D. Buying a new motherboard would add significantly to the cost of the CPU—around 35% of its value—though it's still cheaper than moving to AM5. How future-proof would this upgrade be with my current setup, and do you all think it's a good move considering I mainly play games like Remnant 2, Borderlands 4, and Europa Universalis 5 at 1080p?

Definitely worth the upgrade! Moving to the 5500X3D will noticeably boost your gaming performance, especially at 1080p. You’ll really see improvements in those games you mentioned.
If you want to be more certain, you might consider a 5800X instead. I think they probably haven't updated the compatibility list on your motherboard to include the 5500X3D, which could mean you just need a BIOS update to make it work. 🙂
It's actually cheaper to grab the 5500X3D and a new motherboard rather than going for the 5800X. I believe the last BIOS update came out before the 5500X3D's release, so fingers crossed it will work!
This is definitely a solid upgrade for gaming! Just so you know, the support for the 5500X3D on Asus boards seems to be included in BIOS versions since 6042, so check that out before you make a move.
I made a mistake earlier; I'm on a B350M-A motherboard. It seems like they support all the X3D CPUs except the 5500. What’s the likelihood that it would still work even if it’s not officially listed?

Isn't it a meaningful and significant upgrade?
