Is a $150 PC with these specs worth buying?

I came across a $150 PC that has the following specifications: an Intel i5 4590 processor, 12GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD combined with a 1TB HDD, and a GTX 1050 Ti graphics card with 4GB of memory. I'm curious if this is a good deal and what upgrades I should consider if I decide to purchase it.

Honestly, it's pretty outdated. I wouldn't put too much money into upgrading it. If you really want to enhance performance, consider swapping the CPU for a cheap i7-4770 and increasing the RAM to 16GB. You can run a lot of older games, but don’t expect to play any current titles smoothly.

I’d steer clear of that PC. It’s ancient and unless you're just curious about vintage tech, it's not worth the cash. If your goal is gaming or demanding tasks, you’ll probably end up needing to invest in something better.

I get it, $150 is tight, but maybe see if you can haggle the price down a bit more? This machine could serve as a decent entry-level Linux gaming system, especially for older titles and indie games. Just adjust your expectations for performance.

Before you buy, consider the cost of upgrades. If you're looking at a newer i7 and a better GPU, you might find it’s cheaper to save up for a more capable system instead of patching something this old.

It's really not the best choice unless budget is your only concern. That said, if you’re looking to play less intensive games, it might do the trick. Just keep in mind the 1TB HDD has a shorter lifespan. Use it for low-end gaming, but maybe save your important data elsewhere.
