I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 5500, but I've realized it's not cutting it for gaming. I'm looking to upgrade to the best AM4 CPU that doesn't include the pricey X3D models. Does anyone have suggestions for a solid upgrade?

If you're looking for an upgrade that balances performance and price, I’d recommend the Ryzen 5600 or 5700X. Both offer fantastic gaming performance without the steep price tag of the X3D series.
The 5700X would be an awesome choice too. It has 8 cores, which will definitely give you a nice boost compared to your current 6-core. It's a great pick for future-proofing your setup. The 5600X is solid but might not provide as significant an upgrade.
I think the 5900X is also worth considering. I haven’t had any issues with it, and I’ve found it performs well in gaming and other tasks. Just keep in mind it’s still a bit pricier than the others.
Check out the Ryzen 5800XT! It's known for being great value for money and performs really well in games. I personally have the 5950X, which is more expensive but does an excellent job across different workloads.
