Looking for Mentorship in Coding After Leaving Uni

Hey everyone! I'm a 25-year-old guy who recently left university where I was pursuing a computer science degree. I realized I wasn't taking it seriously, and I faced some personal challenges. Now, I'm trying to reignite my passion for coding and have enrolled in both a fullstack development course and a data science course with Python. While things seem to be going well, I can't shake the feeling that I'm a bit lost and I'm really concerned because I don't have a backup plan. I'm reaching out to see if anyone would be willing to offer some guidance or mentorship, even if it's just the basics. I would truly appreciate any help!

Feeling lost at the start is totally normal! Just keep going, plan your projects, and learn to use documentation effectively. Break your learning into smaller chunks so it doesn't feel overwhelming. You'll find clarity with each project you tackle, and that will help build your confidence.

I think the faster route might be going back to the CS program and finishing it. It could resolve uncertainty in your career path. But if that’s not an option right now, focus on the essentials: make sure you have a computer, internet, and keep your energy up. Start small, and remember, persistence is key. It might feel overwhelming, but with consistent effort, you'll get there!

It’s great that you’re getting back into coding! I suggest focusing on either fullstack development or data science rather than both at the same time. Pick one and commit to it for a few months by spending 3-4 hours daily coding and building projects. Think of something you want to create, break it down into smaller tasks, and learn as you go. If that’s tough, try to replicate a project from an app you enjoy. Just take it step by step and you'll find yourself loving the process! That's what helped me land my first job.
