I'm a bit confused about NVMe SSDs. I already have a 1TB SSD installed, but I want to upgrade. How can I figure out which NVMe SSDs are compatible with my PC if there are two different types of SSD slots available?

By the way, it looks like some portable SSDs, like the Samsung T9, are also worth checking out if you're interested in external storage options!

There are two main types of slots you should know about: M.2 and SATA. Each has different interfaces—NVMe and SATA. M.2 slots usually support NVMe drives, and in some cases, they can also handle SATA drives. Most modern motherboards will support M.2 NVMe (PCI-E) SSDs, so just look for M.2 NVMe or PCI-E drives when you're shopping.

To find out what’s compatible, you can use HWInfo. Just download it, open the "summary only" section, and take a screenshot. This will show your motherboard model and what SSDs you currently have, including what upgrades are possible.
