How can I safely transport my laptop without shutting it off?

I'm new here, so I hope I explain this right. I have an ASUS TUF Gaming A15, and I'm having a problem where it doesn't always turn on when I press the power button—maybe there's a gap between the button and the hardware, but that's not my main concern right now. I'm looking for advice on how to move it between houses (a quick 5-minute drive) without it shutting off. Additionally, I'd like to know how much it typically costs to have it checked out or repaired in Illinois. Thanks for your help!

If you want to move it with the lid closed, you can adjust the settings so that the lid does nothing when closed. Just remember, contacting local repair shops for estimates is your best bet regarding repair costs.

To keep your laptop running while transporting it, go into your power settings and disable any sleep or standby timers. Just be sure to keep the lid open while moving it to your new place. If the battery doesn't hold up well, then consider using a portable charger.

Honestly, it's tough to diagnose your issue without actually looking at the laptop. A local technician can help determine what's wrong, but be aware that the costs for repairs in Illinois may vary based on the shop. It's best to call around and ask how much they charge for diagnostics.

A weak battery might struggle to keep the laptop running, especially under heavy load. If you're trying to keep it on without issues, consider closing unnecessary programs to lighten the load.

Generally, it's not a great idea to keep a powered-on laptop during transport. It could overheat due to ventilation issues, and if you have a spinning HDD, it might get damaged from the movement, even in a short trip.
