I'm looking to upgrade my gaming setup from a 27-inch 1080p 60Hz monitor to a 1440p 120Hz monitor. Currently, I'm using a GTX 1070 Ti, which is struggling with the games I play, especially "Where Winds Meet." My goal is to run 3+ year old AAA games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Elden Ring at medium+ settings with at least 60 FPS. I am based in the US and prefer not to upgrade my CPU, which is a Ryzen 5 7600, for this upgrade. I'm considering options like the RX 9060 XT or RTX 5060 Ti, and maybe the RTX 5070 if it's not overkill. I'll be keeping my current 1080p monitor as a secondary display, and I'm curious about how to check potential CPU bottlenecking with these GPUs. Any recommendations?

Yeah, the RTX 5070 is a good pick! Don’t worry too much about bottlenecking with your current CPU; that combination should serve you well for a while. Check benchmarks specific to the games you play to see how they run.

Have you thought about the RTX 5060 Ti? It might save you some cash, and I think it can still handle your gaming needs at 1440p quite well. Just keep an eye on the FPS to make sure you're happy with it.

The RTX 5070 looks like a solid choice for 1440p at 120Hz. It should give you great performance without your CPU holding it back too much. Plus, it's a good option for the future, especially if you're thinking about VR down the road.
