Upgrade from Ryzen 5 3600: Is 5600 or 5700G the Better Choice?

Asked By GamerDude99 On

I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 3600 paired with an RX 6600 GPU for gaming. I've heard that my CPU might be bottlenecking the GPU's performance. Would upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600 be worth it? I also noticed that the Ryzen 7 5700G is only about $20 more, so I'm curious whether that would be a better option.

- Should I upgrade my CPU for gaming?
- Which one should I choose between the 5600 and the 5700G? Also, I believe they have similar power requirements, so is there a need for a power supply upgrade?

I'd appreciate any insights you have!

I'd say either the 5600 or the 5700X. You might even be able to snag a good deal on a second-hand one!

If you're primarily gaming, I recommend going with the Ryzen 5 5600. Its extra L3 cache makes a notable difference in performance. Plus, you'll get great value for your money!

Interesting, thank you!

Actually, the 5700 isn't as good as the 5600 for gaming, which is why they’re priced so closely. Stick with the 5600X or 5700X for better performance.

The 5600 is definitely a solid choice. Avoid the 5700G since it's a mobile chip with fewer specs and less cache. Between the 5600X and the 5700X, both are good options, but I'd stick with the 5600 for gaming.

Also, watch out for the 5500 and 5700 (non-X) as they’re less ideal for your setup.
