Help! Both My CPUs Burned Out After Replacement – What Now?

I recently upgraded my setup by buying a Ryzen 5 5500 CPU to replace my old Ryzen 5 3400G, hoping to improve performance since the 3400G was bottlenecking my RX580 GPU. I made sure to update my BIOS to the latest version from the Aorus website. However, when I installed the new CPU, the screen turned black and a red light on the motherboard indicated a processing failure. After swapping back to the old CPU, the same issue occurred. I took my setup to a technician who said both CPUs were fried, but the rest of my components appear to be fine. I'm wondering what steps I should take next and whether there's any warranty coverage available for my CPUs.

Did you verify that your PC was functioning with the updated BIOS before swapping out the 3400G? Sometimes updates don’t complete or the wrong one can be accidentally applied. The red light you mentioned might not just indicate a CPU issue; it could also point to memory or GPU problems. As for warranty, check your purchase receipts—if you're within the window, you might be covered. But I’m skeptical about the technician's claim that both CPUs are fried. Did he actually show you the CPUs working in another setup? It sounds like a proper diagnostic wasn’t done.

I did the BIOS update days before the CPU swap and double-checked everything. As for the red light, you're right; it could be other parts too. I’ve got T-Force 2x 8GB 2666MHz RAM that should work fine, but it's hard to believe both CPUs are fried. I think I’ll get a second opinion from another tech because I’m not buying what this guy said.
