My Computer Keeps Restarting Instead of Shutting Down—What Should I Do?

Hey everyone, I recently installed a new AMD 9800x3d CPU in my B650 motherboard, and everything seemed to be working perfectly. I was able to boot up and play games without any issues. However, when I tried to shut down my computer, it just restarted instead. The only way I can turn it off is by switching off the power supply. Any advice on how to fix this?

Have you tried the classic fix of turning it off and on again? Just kidding—obviously, you have! But seriously, have you cleared the CMOS yet? That can sometimes resolve strange power issues. Also, check if there's a firmware update for your motherboard.

I haven't cleared the CMOS yet. Should I also look into updating the BIOS? I'm using a B650 Gigabyte Gaming AX V2, and I heard the 9800x3d needs BIOS version F30, but I currently have F31.
