My dad's phone has been bombarding him with ads every few seconds, and I've already tried scanning it with Bitdefender and Malwarebytes, but it didn't seem to help. I'm not sure what to try next. Any suggestions?

First, make sure to check the make and model of his phone. If it’s an Android device like a Xiaomi, he may have accidentally allowed Chrome or some other app to show notifications. It can really clutter things up. You should look closely at the apps installed and uninstall any that don't seem trustworthy.
Definitely go through the list of installed apps and uninstall anything that looks suspicious. After that, clear the data and cache for the web browsers and reboot the phone. If that doesn't work, the last resort would be a factory reset, but try these steps first!
I’m actually doing that right now!
Before going for a factory reset, make sure to back up all the important files and photos. But if your dad's not keen on resetting because of too much on his phone, try other methods first and see if they work. Just be cautious with those sketchy apps!

Got it! It's a Xiaomi Redmi, though I’m not sure about the exact model.
