I'm excited to say I recently got a 3080 for about £280! Now, I'm facing a bit of a dilemma when choosing a CPU that would match well with it for gaming at 1080p and 1440p. I initially thought about getting a Ryzen 7 5700X or 5800X3D, but those seem to be either out of stock or ridiculously priced around £300 used. Considering the skyrocketing RAM prices, I want to stick with the AM4 platform.
My secondary option is the Ryzen 5 5700X since it feels like my best bet right now. I've noticed that most CPUs in the 5000 series don't significantly improve gaming performance, except for the X3D models. I'm not very up to date on Intel CPUs either, so I would appreciate any suggestions. My budget for the CPU is capped at £200. Should I go with the 5700X, downgrade to the 5600X since the in-game performance difference is minor, or switch to an Intel option? Any Intel recommendations would be awesome!

I have a 5700X paired with a 7800XT, which is pretty similar in performance to a 3080 Ti. Trust me, the 5700X will serve you well! I've got another rig with a 5800X (nearly identical) and a 7900XT, and they play together excellently. The 5000 series chips are still very capable, even if the X3D ones are hard to find.
The 5700X would be a solid choice! It's a good fit, especially for your new GPU. Just curious, what CPU are you using currently?
I'm actually building my own PC, so I don't have a CPU yet.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I've seen quite a few people saying that going for the higher-end 5000 series CPUs mainly boosts productivity over gaming performance, but it's reassuring to know that they work well for gaming too.
