Are Patriot P210 2TB SSDs Reliable or Just Junk?

Hey everyone! In early 2023, I got my first NAS, the Synology DS620slim, and filled it with 6 Patriot P210 2TB SSDs. However, I had to turn it off after moving to a new house in January 2024, and I just tried to power it on after nearly two years of being off. Unfortunately, it seems like all the SSDs have failed. Is this a common issue? Are these Patriot SSDs really that bad?

Honestly, TLC flash is pretty iffy for reliable data storage long-term. Since you have multiple drives in a NAS, it might not have been a huge issue, depending on how your RAID setup is configured. Just watch out for any electrical issues during your move, as they can sometimes fry drives. Otherwise, I wouldn't trust those SSDs for important data without backups!

It's pretty common for SSDs to lose data if they're powered off for an extended time. According to industry standards, if a drive reaches its endurance limit, it might only hold onto data for about a year without power. For lightly-used SSDs, they can usually store data for a few years without issues, but there's no guarantee. If your SSDs are mostly empty, they should have been okay, unless they're older or sustained a lot of writes. Are they completely dead or just not showing data?

They can be detected, but in HD Tune Pro, the error scan shows everything in red. Pretty concerning for SSDs that haven't been used much.
