Will Upgrading Just My Video Card Help My Gaming Experience?

I've got a pretty decent setup with an Intel i7 8700k processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1060 6 GB graphics card. I've been able to play most games, but I can't max out the settings. Recently, I struggled with the Oblivion remaster, which looked terrible even on low settings. I'm thinking of upgrading my graphics card and wanted to know if just getting something like a 3060 12 GB would be enough to improve my experience. Any advice?

I had a minor CPU bottleneck with an 8700k and a 3080, but you'll be fine with a 3060. Although the CPU isn't top-of-the-line anymore, it should pair well with a faster GPU than your current one.

It's wild to think how old the 8700 is! It still performs pretty well for an 8-year-old CPU.

You might want to consider an AMD 6650XT or 6600XT. They could be cheaper and might actually offer more performance compared to the 3060, especially closer to a 3060 Ti.

Upgrading to a 3060 should make you quite happy! Your current CPU can handle it pretty well, and you’ll definitely notice a performance boost.
