I'm planning to get a Thinkpad T490 and I'm trying to decide on a Linux distribution to use. I've already tried out several options like Arch, Debian, Fedora, Mint, and Ubuntu, but none of them have worked well for me. I'm hoping to find a distro that comes with lots of gaming-related stuff pre-installed, like drivers, Steam, and Lutris, but I don't want something that's just dedicated to gaming or an immutable setup. Performance is also a consideration for me. If my only choices are Cachyos or Nobara, I guess I could go with those, but I'm looking for alternatives. Just as a heads-up, I'm not a complete newbie to Linux; I was directed here from a Linux community for more insight.

What kind of games are you hoping to play on the T490? Some might not run well on that hardware, so it’s worth considering.
Honestly, it's really about finding the one that fits your needs best. It’s a bit subjective, but just pick the one you feel works well for you!
Have you checked out the distro selection page online? There's a lot of useful info out there! Just a tip: always keep regular backups and maybe test things out in a virtual machine before diving in.
I've been using Linux Mint Cinnamon for a while now, and while I'm new to Linux, it seems to be user-friendly! It might be worth exploring if you're looking for a daily driver that’s easy to navigate, even if you’re not focused on gaming. Just my two cents!
Honestly, with the T490, you can pick pretty much any distro that you like. They should all work fine on that hardware, so go with whatever you feel comfortable using!
What specific drivers are you having trouble with on your T490? I've got one running LMDE, which works great for playing Steam games and supports Lutris out of the box. It might help if you share what didn't work for you in your previous attempts!
