Best Path to Upgrade an Old CPU

I'm looking to upgrade my aging Intel i5-4670K CPU, which is paired with an ASRock Z87 Pro3 motherboard, 8GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 GPU. I'm currently using both an HDD and an SSD for storage. I have three 24-inch Samsung monitors and a TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 PCIe WiFi card. I'm also running Windows 10, but I can't upgrade the OS with my current CPU. What components should I consider upgrading to get to a modern CPU, or at least something close to current generation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you want a solid upgrade, consider the Ryzen 7 5700X with a B550 motherboard and bumping your RAM up to 32GB DDR4. If you're okay spending more, check out the Ryzen 9 7900X3D, DDR5 with an X670E motherboard, and an RTX 5080 for modern performance!

To really boost your performance, you'll need to upgrade your CPU, motherboard, and RAM. Don't forget about your power supply—if you choose a beefier CPU, it might need more juice!

Is there a go-to mid-range CPU that I should focus on?

Honestly, your setup is quite dated. If you're eyeing a modern CPU like the Ryzen 7600, that will necessitate a new motherboard and DDR5 RAM anyway. Since you're looking at a new motherboard, upgrading your GPU could be worthwhile too since support for the GTX 760 has become pretty sparse.

I'm trying to keep costs down. I don't really game much anymore, just mostly work on it.
