I powered down my laptop before going on a week-long trip and left it untouched in my bag. Now that I'm back and set it up again, I'm noticing that most of my desktop icons have vanished. The apps still work just fine; I just have to click on their names to access them, which is super frustrating. The strange thing is that the icons are missing everywhere, even in my folders. I've tried restarting, refreshing the desktop, and I even checked the refresh rate, but nothing seems to help. Anyone have an idea why this happened or how to fix it?

This happened to me once after a OneDrive update removed my desktop icons. You might want to check your OneDrive settings to see if anything similar happened. Have you tried simply refreshing your desktop? Right-click on the desktop and select 'Refresh'. Sometimes that does the trick! If that doesn't work, a full restart might help too.
